Who Am I?

Hi Everyone! My name is Lawrence (Larry) Bland from Houston, Texas. I am originally from New York, later Moved to Maryland, and then went to college at James Madison University in Virginia and graduated with a BS Degree in Psychology and Communications.

Why Am I Here?

You might ask yourself, “Why would a six figure income earning Mortgage Banker/Realtor be interested in marketing on the Internet?”  Let alone start a web hosting company?   To answer that question: I started a FaceBook page to network with other people who are as interested in Internet marketing as I am! I can see the present and the future. Both say the Internet is the present and the future of all business. Think about it, do you know of anyone who does not have an email address, a cell phone, a twitter account?

Internet users – according to the latest statistics (http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm), Internet users make up 1.6 Billion people worldwide. That’s almost ¼ the world’s entire population! Aside from those staggering statistics, it’s really been a lot of fun so far, and I have made many great contacts. I hope I can get everyone as motivated and excited as I am about building their online business and becoming successful while working from home. It can be done so don’t give up!

My Story

Originally, my dream was to be an NFL Pro Football player. Unfortunately, when my knee blew out in college, that dream came to crashing halt. Back in the 80’s, health technology was nowhere near what it is today. Today, an athlete blows out a knee and six weeks later they’re up and walking again. Back then ,it was a career ender.  I have no regrets. I got experience in college that I would not trade for anything, and most importantly, I received a top-notch college education.  After graduating, I worked in the food service industry as a manager for a national chain restaurant. The pay was good, as was the stability of the job. But the hours were horrendous. I lived, ate and slept my job; there was no balance. So later, with the help of my father, I started a computer firm. I received several contracts from the DEA, DOD, AT & T and several others. Later, I had to make the decision to move to Beaumont, Texas to be closer to help out my grandmother. When she originally moved back to TX, two of my great uncles and my great aunt were still living, as well as my grandfather. Eventually, they all passed away and she was left alone. She did not drive — she never had to, because she had lived in NY, and you don’t even need a car there. I was the only one in the family who was in any position to relocate, so I turned over my computer company to my cousin and moved to Beaumont, Texas. I always had the entrepreneurial mindset so I thought, “Heck, I did it once. I can do it again.”

Real Estate and Finance had always intrigued me, so I started my own Mortgage Company. During the entire time, from college until a few months ago, I had “dabbled” in network marketing. I have been involved with companies like Amway, Pre-paid Legal, Mia Bella, Limu, Monavie, to name a few. I never really made much money at any of them. This was through no fault of these companies. They are all great companies, and many people, I am sure, are making tons of money with them. I would probably attribute my lack of success with them to two things: First, I never really treated any of them like a true business. They were always in the “hobby” or “second income potential” category for me.  The second reason, which is probably the biggest reason, was that I could never get comfortable with what is termed the “old school” MLM marketing methods. You know, where you make a list of 100 to 200 names of friends and families, then call on them all, setup meetings and appointments, and try to get them to see things the way you do. My thinking has always been that, if someone is not actively seeking your advice or a business opportunity, then you’re wasting your time and alienating them as well. In my Mortgage and Real Estate business, people have always sought me out for the services I provide, and that is how I run my Internet business as well. Of course, I have and still do some traditional forms of advertising, but probably 75% to 80% is by way of reputation and referral. About two months ago, a friend of mine, Vernon Nate, whom I met online, introduced me to a very new and revolutionary marketing system that has literally blown the roof off all of my previous marketing efforts. The best thing about it now is that, for the first time in my MLM history, people are seeking me out for help with their businesses. Through the grace of God, a lot of trial and error, and a fantastic and revolutionary marketing system, I have been able to prosper online. The Internet is no longer just the future. It is the here and now. If you don’t have an Internet presence and are not actively marketing online, to put it in a nutshell, you won’t be in business long.

I’ve always been a bit of a dreamer, kind of quirky…taken to roaming a bit off the beaten path. As a child, I was quite the dork and an introvert, so I had plenty for time reading and daydreaming, creating the reality that I desired, if only in my own mind. I always wanted something different than the status quo. A visionary in the making, you might say.

Trading Time for Money

I got my first job when I was 14 years old as a counter person at a restaurant called The Brittany in our local mall. Oh yeah. I was rockin’ it in my red and green plaid polyester old English tavern maiden outfit. I learned something really quick while ringing up customer’s tabs, taking their money, and counting back their change: the more I worked, the more money I earned. And the more money I earned, the more stuff I could buy. I really liked that. But more important, I noticed that the really geeky owner of the restaurant was making a lot more money than me. I didn’t like that at all. I wanted to be the owner.

Nevertheless, I continued trading time for money for the next thirty some odd years. I got my first “real” job when I was 21, working as a clerk in an accounting office. Through several years and many of life’s twists and turns, I continued to climb the corporate ladder. Success came easy to me.

In 1999, I began working at a major telecom as a sales/marketing rep. Within a month, I was one of the top sales people in the office. I loved the recognition and the bonuses! A few weeks later, when I was asked if I wanted to be a sales manager, I jumped at the chance. Not only did I receive a very nice salary increase, I got to be “the boss”. Things were looking good for the future.

But still, there was something missing. Although I continued to do well, something didn’t feel quite right. What was that something? It was a sense of fulfillment. I just didn’t find selling telephone lines all that special. I’m not knocking the telecom industry, so don’t send me mean comments! It just wasn’t fulfilling a desire I had hidden deep inside of me. A desire for more. More time. More money. And much more important, more meaning. More truth.

*#IT Happens

Sometimes God has a way of bringing about His will and your desires using circumstances that bring you to your knees. As it was, in 2007 I became very ill with a chronic medical condition. I battled with my illness over the next year or so while trying to work, be a mom, etc. It finally came to a point where I could work no longer. So, after 30+ years, I was suddenly unemployed. The proverbial *#IT had hit the fan.

Hard Knock U

I spent the next couple of years battling my illness. In 2009, I came to a point where I was finally feeling better, and the old familiar need for fulfillment returned to my heart. Not to mention the old familiar need for cash…lol.

So, still not able to work, but able to be on my computer (all day…lol), I decided to look for some way to make money online. I knew that people worked from home using the internet to earn a living. It should be easy enough, right?

Wrong.

I joined several “programs” that offered quick cash, but none of them worked for me. I found an MLM “company” and invested a lot of time and money into it before the owners up and ran with the cash. I made a bit here and there, but it actually wasn’t until several lessons from the school of hard knocks that things began to click for me.

Jordan Schultz Saved My Life

In July of this year (2011), I met Jordan Schultz. Little did I know that that meeting would set me on a new journey. Jordan introduced me to a company called My Lead System Pro. Of course I had heard of MLSP, but had never taken the time to look at it. It didn’t take me long to realize that MLSP was the missing link, and I joined and dug in. Suddenly, I was hangin’ with the big dogs: people who not only had vision, but had turned those visions into success. I was learning from the best of the best.

What a remarkable concept! Before MLSP, I was hanging with struggling marketers who really just wanted someone else(ME) to build their business make them rich. Now, here I was making friends with true like-minded people. It was truly an AHA moment.

Not only that, MLSP and Jordan helped me develop a strategy! All the knowledge and contacts in world won’t do a thing for you if you don’t have a plan!

Jordan also introduced me to Numis Network. Most of MLSP’s top leaders/earners were in Numis, and that, combined with the unique opportunity Numis presented…well, it just made sense to me.

Today, I continue to build my Numis business using the leads and relationships I have developed using MLSP. Today, I get to help other people who are sick and tired of being sick and tired break away from old habits and learn new ones. Many of these people will go on to be successful entrepreneurs, and that in itself brings me tremendous fulfillment.

And oh, by the way…I’m still a dork. Just ask my 13-year old son.
